2009-2014 Ford F-150 Evaporator Replacement: 4712009
2009-2014 Ford F-150 A/C systems are designed with an evaporator housing unit (Figure 1.1). In order to replace the evaporator, the original evaporator housing unit must be taken apart and reassembled. *Make sure to keep the original retaining clip on the expansion valve to be reused when installing a new evaporator.
Because the vehicle does not come equipped with a cabin air filter, debris gets carried into the evaporator unit and deposited in and around the evaporator (Figure 1.2). The deposited debris can insulate the thermistor probe, creating inaccurate temperature readings (Figure 1.3). Because this evaporator is a zoned style design, the thermistor cannot and should not be moved. Moving the thermistor would hinder A/C performance.
