Some 2001-2010 GM & Ford Vehicles
Fitted with Expansion Valves: OEM Inline Filters
With the change in system designs, some of the OE manufacturers that were known for orifice tubes, are moving toward expansion valves. With this change, they have introduced in-line filter kits.
As you are aware, when a compressor fails, it spreads the contamination throughout the system. It is also very easy with an orifice tube to see if the system is contaminated with the remnants left on the orifice tube screen. The same can be said for an OE inline filter, use with an expansion valve system.
If you have a catastrophic failure with a compressor on the vehicles listed below, do not forget to check and replace the in-line filter. If it is clogged with debris and not cleaned, it may cause oil starvation to your replacement compressor, causing it to fail.
