Compressor Not Pumping?
Check the Condenser for Leaks
· 2015-2020 Cadillac Escalade
· 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado
· 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban
· 2014-2018 Chevrolet Tahoe
· 2014-2019 GMC SierrA
The 2014-2020 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado/Suburban/Tahoe, and GMC Sierra models listed are known to experience problems with a leaking condenser often caused by weak welding on the exterior supports. A leak at the condenser can be detrimental to the entire A/C system.
The applications listed above are also equipped with an electronically controlled variable displacement compressor. If the system is low on refrigerant, due to a leak, the compressor will not pump at full stroke. In this case, the compressor may appear inoperable although the condenser is the true source of failure. Signs of condenser leaking can be identified on the driver’s side at the top right drier fitting between the drier and condenser.
It is highly recommended to replace both the condenser and compressor on these applications.
