This heater core features crimp style joints that can be easily damaged when disassembling and reassembling the HVAC housing. gpd recommends extreme caution when disconnecting/ connecting heater lines through the firewall. It is important to ensure the aluminum pipes are supported (best practice is to hold the pipes in one hand while refitting hose connections) during repair to avoid bending the aluminum lines. Bends in these lines, especially close to the crimped style joints, can cause the seal to leak.
PRO TIP: To access the heater core, the dashboard and HVAC housing must be disassembled and removed, making it a time-consuming repair. It is highly recommended to replace the evaporator core alongside the heater core.
