gpd’s Radiator Pressure Tester Kit, 5811744, can be used to identify leaks in the automotive cooling system. It is important to identify and repair leaks in the radiator and/or coolant lines as soon as possible to prevent coolant loss and engine damage due to overheating. How to Use gpd’s Radiator Pressure Tester Kit: 5811744

*ENGINE MUST BE TURNED OFF AND COMPLETELY COOL BEFORE USING THE PRESSURE TESTER*

1.

Carefully remove the radiator cap using a damp cloth or gloves. Take caution! Radiator cap may be hot.

2.

Refer to parts list included with kit to identify the correct adapter/seat for the vehicle, then secure onto the filler neck of the radiator/expansion tank.

3.

Attach the hand pump to male end of the adaptor.

4. 

Begin pumping and take note of the readings of the color-coded pressure gauge.

• Ideal pressure readings for a properly functioning radiator are 12-15 psi.
• If pressure readings are under 12-15 psi, there is likely a leak in the radiator and/or hoses.
• If no visible leak is detected AND the radiator is not able to maintain pressure (loosing pressure after pumping), there is likely a faulty/blown head gasket.

5. 

DO NOT REMOVE THE HAND PUMP BEFORE RELEASING PRESSURE. To remove the hand pump, release the air pressure by pressing the pressure release valve. Disconnect the quick decoupler and adapter assembly.
