Hose Assemblies with Orifice Tube
in Liquid Line (Ex: 4811496)
Orifice tubes can be found in A/C systems with an accumulator as opposed to systems with an expansion valve and receiver drier. As described in gpd Tech Tip #47, “Orifice Tubes”, the orifice tube is a fixed device located between the evaporator and condenser that creates a restrictions in order to drop pressure/temperature to keep the evaporator flooded.
Some systems are designed with the orifice tube in the high side of the liquid line. The images below show a liquid line with inline orifice tube for a 1996 Ford Taurus and 1996 Mercury Sable (gpd #4811496).
