Serpentine Belt Replacement for

The compressor (gpd #6511414) for a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado with 5.3L engine is fitted with a one-time use serpentine belt. This serpentine belt, called an “elastic belt” or “accessory belt”, is designed for use in applications where there is not room for an idler pulley. They are commonly found on front wheel drive vehicles to drive water pumps and are now being used on some larger vehicles.
Belt manufacturers recommend that these belts are cut off when replacing the compressor and fitted with a new belt upon installation.
