What is a Compressor Clutch Air Gap?
The air gap on an automotive A/C compressor clutch is the small space between the clutch plate and the pulley when the clutch is disengaged. When the A/C system is turned on, the electromagnetic clutch pulls the clutch plate toward the pulley, closing this gap and allowing the compressor to circulate refrigerant and cool the vehicle.
