2007-2024 Ford Super duty 5.4, 6.8, 7.3 gas & cng accumulator
Not all accumulators are built the same. gpd goes the extra mile to make sure you get the best quality, time-saving product. We put in the effort to ensure the product you use will perform reliably and effectively.
We recently did a comparison between our accumulator and a competitor’s. We found some major differences that would ensure that if you were to use the competitor’s product, it could be back in your bay.
First, look at the side of the accumulator where it bolts to the vehicle, you will notice the gpd accumulator comes with rubber grommets that have metal inserts. This helps reduce vibrations against the vehicle. The competitor’s product does not have this feature.
Next, the stud where the pad fitting is located, the gpd accumulator comes with the stud included for connection. The competitor’s does not. This could be a real problem if you cannot reuse the stud because it is rusted or cross-threaded, or if you are struggling to remove it.
The “J” tube inside the accumulator is crucial for transferring refrigerant from the bottom of the accumulator, making sure the compressor gets the oil it needs and that the system has enough refrigerant. On the gpd accumulator, the “J” tube matches the size and depth of the OE. The competitor’s “J” tube is thinner and shorter, meaning it does not reach the bottom of the accumulator. It may work for a while, but once it heats up, it will not be able to keep up.
