2014-2015 Chevrolet cruze 2.0 diesel Nitrogen oxide sensor (nox)
The Chevrolet Cruze Diesel is a complex vehicle with many sensors fitted to the underbody of the vehicle.
This vehicle has the usual oxygen sensors found in most vehicles, but since it’s a diesel, it also has extra sensors that aren’t typically on petrol/gas-powered vehicles. It also has a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system in the exhaust, where the DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) is introduced.
There are two Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensors near the SCR. The first sensor, at the front, measures the emissions coming from the engine to the SCR. The second sensor, (1815162) also known as the “downstream”, measures the emissions after they’ve passed through the SCR. The ECU checks both sensors to make sure the emissions are within the proper limits.
It’s important that the correct sensor is replaced so that the reason for the check engine light is repaired.
